Sality virus will spread quickly through a network share by using the default Windows share folder or share folder that has full access to the way by infec files with  extension exe / com / scr.

As for that, company security Vaksincom suggest that computer users to turn off the Default Share (C $, D $  … etc) and avoid full folder sharing on your network.

The following are short way to clean the virus W32/Sality.AE received from analysts detikINET virus Vaksincom, Adang Jauhar Taufik, on Wednesday (4/3/2009):

1. Disconnect the infected computer from the network and the Internet.

2. Turn off System Restore during the cleaning process takes place.

Before ever start reading, I need you to understand that PCs are just like humans, which means some kinds of medicines only work on some humans instead of all, same as PC, different PCs have different systems, so doesn’t mean everything in this XP SpeedUp will work on your PC. Well, I tested most of them and now my 256RAM laptop is working fine and very fast. Another thing, Antivirus is the main reason if you done all these things and found out that your PC still very slow, because antivirus takes spaces and need time to load up during startup if you have low RAM ( in this case I am talking about 1GIG below ). So, off the automatic protection and scan weekly once for any virus cleaning.

**NOTE**

Some PC or laptop should may not open registry editor (regedit) after you go to Start>RUN>regedit>OK. An error message will appear ( forgot what is it already ).

What you need to do is :

Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc -> User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Prevent access to registry editing tools -> Right Click Properties -> Disabled

Done! You can open registry editor now.

DISABLE INDEXING SERVICES

Indexing Services is a small little program that uses large amounts of RAM and can often make a computer endlessly loud and noisy. This system process indexes and updates lists of all the files that are on your computer. It does this so that when you do a search for something on your computer, it will search faster by scanning the index lists. If you don’t search your computer often, or even if you do search often, this system service is completely unnecessary. To disable do the following:

1. Go to Start

2. Click Settings

3. Click Control Panel

4. Double-click Add/Remove Programs

5. Click the Add/Remove Window Components

6. Uncheck the Indexing services

7. Click Next

OPTIMISE DISPLAY SETTINGS

Windows XP can look sexy but displaying all the visual items can waste system resources. To optimise:

1.Go to Start

2. Click Settings

3. Click Control Panel

4. Click System

5. Click Advanced tab

6. In the Performance tab click Settings

7. Leave only the following ticked:

- Show shadows under menus

- Show shadows under mouse pointer

- Show translucent selection rectangle

- Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop

- Use visual styles on windows and buttons

DISABLE PERFORMANCE COUNTERS

Windows XP has a performance monitor utility which monitors several areas of your PC’s performance. These utilities take up system resources so disabling is a good idea.

To disable:

1. download and install the Extensible Performance Counter List(http://www.M’zoft.com/windows2000/remove404.mspx)

2.Then select each counter in turn in the ‘Extensible performance counters’ window and clear the ‘performance counters enabled’ checkbox at the bottom.button below.

SPEEDUP FOLDER BROWSING

You may have noticed that everytime you open my computer to browse folders that there is a slight delay. This is because Windows XP automatically searches for network files and printers everytime you open Windows Explorer. To fix this and to increase browsing significantly:

1. Open My Computer

2. Click on Tools menu

3. Click on Folder Options

4. Click on the View tab.

5. Uncheck the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box

6. Click Apply

7. Click Ok

8. Reboot your computer

IMPROVE MEMORY USAGE

Cacheman Improves the performance of your computer by optimizing the disk cache, memory and a number of other settings.

Once Installed:

1.Go to Show Wizard and select All

2.Run all the wizards by selecting Next or Finished until you are back to the main menu. Use the defaults unless you know exactly what you are doing.

3.Exit and Save Cacheman

4.Restart Windows

OPTIMISE YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION

There are lots of ways to do this but by far the easiest is to run TCP/IP Optimizer.

1. Download(www.speedguide.net/files/tcpoptimizer.exe) and install

2. Click the General Settings tab and select your Connection Speed (Kbps)

3. Click Network Adapter and choose the interface you use to connect to the Internet

4. Check Optimal Settings then Apply

5. Reboot

OPTIMISE YOUR PAGEFILE

If you give your pagefile a fixed size it saves the operating system from needing to resize the page file.

1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties

2. Select the Advanced tab

3. Under Performance choose the Settings button

4. Select the Advanced tab again and under Virtual Memory select Change

5. Highlight the drive containing your page file and make the initial Size of the file the same as the Maximum Size of the file.

Windows XP sizes the page file to about 1.5X the amount of actual physical memory by default. While this is good for systems with smaller amounts of memory (under 512MB) it is unlikely that a typical XP desktop system will ever need 1.5 X 512MB or more of virtual memory. If you have less than 512MB of memory, leave the page file at its default size. If you have 512MB or more, change the ratio to 1:1 page file size to physical memory size.

RUN BOOTVIS – IMPROVE BOOT TIMES download from(www.majorgeeks.com)

1. Download and Run

3. Select Next Boot + Driver Delays

4. A Trace Repetitions screen will appear, select Ok and Reboot

REMOVE THE DESKTOP PICTURE

Your desktop background consumes a fair amount of memory and can slow the loading time of your system. Removing it will improve performance.

I know that you all know how to do it right? Well I still type the direction to do it.

1. Right click on Desktop and select Properties

2. Select the Desktop tab

3. In the Background window select None

4. Click Ok

REMOVE FONTS FOR SPEED

Fonts, especially TrueType fonts, use quite a bit of system resources. For optimal performance, trim your fonts down to just those that you need to use on a daily basis and fonts that applications may require.

1. Open Control Panel

2. Open Fonts folder

3. Move fonts you don’t need to a temporary directory (e.g. C:FONTBKUP?) just in case you need or want to bring a few of them back. The more fonts you uninstall, the more system resources you will gain.

System Restore can be a useful if your computer is having problems, however storing all the restore points can literally take up Gigabytes of space on your hard drive. To turn off System Restore:

Click on Performance and Maintenance

Tick ‘Turn off System Restore on All Drives’

Click ‘Ok’

DEFRAGMENT YOUR PAGEFILE

Keeping your pagefile defragmented can provide a major performance boost. One of the best ways of doing this is to creat a separate partition on your hard drive just for your page file, so that it doesn’t get impacted by normal disk usage. Another way of keeping your pagefile defragmented is to run PageDefrag. This cool little app can be used to defrag your pagefile, and can also be set to defrag the pagefile everytime your PC starts. To install:

Download(www.sysinternals.com) and Run PageDefrag

Tick “Defrag at next Reboot”,

Click “Ok”

Reboot

SPEEDUP FOLDER ACCESS – DISABLE LAST ACCESS UPDATE

If you have a lot of folders and subdirectories on your computer, when you access a directory XP wastes a lot of time updating the time stamp showing the last access time for that directory and for ALL sub directories. To stop XP doing this you need to edit the registry. If you are uncomfortable doing this then please do not attempt.

Go to Start and then Run and type “regedit”

Click through the file system until you get to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCur rentControlSetControlFileSys tem”

Right-click in a blank area of the window on the right and select ‘DWORD Value’

Create a new DWORD Value called ‘NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate’

Then Right click on the new value and select ‘Modify’

Change the Value Data to ’1′

Click ‘OK’

DISABLE SYSTEM SOUNDS

Surprisingly, the beeps that your computer makes for various system sounds can slow it down, particularly at startup and shut-down. To fix this turn off the system sounds:

Check Place volume icon in taskbar

Click Sounds Tab

Choose “No Sounds” for the Sound Scheme

IMPROVE BOOT TIMES

A great new feature in M’zoft Windows XP is the ability to do a boot defragment. This places all boot files next to each other on the disk to allow for faster booting. By default this option in enables but on some builds it is not so below is how to turn it on.

Go to Start Menu and Click Run

Type in “Regedit” then click ok

Find “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREM icrosoftDfrgBootOpt imizeFunction”

Select “Enable” from the list on the right

Right on it and select “Modify”

Change the value to “Y to enable”

Reboot

IMPROVE SWAPFILE PERFORMANCE

If you have more than 256MB of RAM this tweak will considerably improve your performance. It basically makes sure that your PC uses every last drop of memory (faster than swap file) before it starts using the swap file.

Go to Start then Run

Type “msconfig.exe” then ok

Click on the System.ini tab

Expand the 386enh tab by clicking on the plus sign

MAKE YOUR MENUS LOAD FASTER

This is one of my favourite tweaks as it makes a huge difference to how fast your machine will ‘feel’. What this tweak does is remove the slight delay between clicking on a menu and XP displaying the menu.

Type ‘Regedit’ then click ‘Ok’

SPEED UP BOOT TIMES

When your PC starts it usually looks for any bootable media in any floppy or cd-rom drives you have installed before it gets around to loading the Operating System from the HDD. This can waste valuable time. To fix this we need to make some changes to the Bios.

1. To enter the bios you usually press ‘F2′ or ‘delete’ when your PC starts

2. Navigate to the ‘Boot’ menu

3. Select ‘Boot Sequence’

4. Then either move your Hard drive to the top position or set it as the ‘First Device’

5. Press the ‘Escape’ key to leave the bios. Don’t forget to save your settings before exiting

Note: Once this change has been made, you won’t be able to boot from a floppy disc or a CD-rom. If for some strange reason you need to do this in the future, just go back into your bios, repeat the steps above and put your floppy or CD-rom back as the ‘First Device’

REMOVE ANNOYING DELETE CONFIRMATION MESSAGES

Although not strictly a performance tweak I love this fix as it makes my machine ‘feel’ faster. I hate the annoying ‘are you sure?’ messages that XP displays, especially if I have to use a laptop touchpad to close them. To remove these messages:

1. Right-click on the ‘Recycle Bin’ on the desktop and then click ‘Properties’

2. Clear the ‘Display Delete Confirmation Dialog’ check box and click ‘Ok’

If you do accidently delete a file don’t worry as all is not lost. Just go to your Recycle Bin and ‘Restore’ the file.

DISABLE PREFETCH ON LOW MEMORY SYSTEMS

Prefetch is designed to speed up program launching by preloading programs into memory – not a good idea is memory is in short supply, as it can make programs hang. To disable prefetch:

1. Click ‘Start’ then ‘Run’

2. Type in ‘Regedit’ then click ‘Ok’

3. Navigate to ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCur rentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory ManagementPrefetchParameters ‘

4. Right-click on “EnablePrefetcher” and set the value to ’0′

CLEANING THE PREFETCH DIRECTORY

WindowsXP has a new feature called Prefetch. This keeps a shortcut to recently used programs.

However it can fill up with old and obsolete programs.

To clean this periodically go to:

Star / Run / Prefetch

Press Ctrl-A to highlight all the shorcuts

Delete them

INCREASE XP FOLDER SETTING

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some settings aren’t retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding this edit to the registry.

1. Copy the following (everything in the box) into notepad.

XP BROWSING SPEED UP TWEAK

when you connect to a web site your computer sends information back and forth, this is obvious. Some of this information deals with resolving the site name to an IP address, the stuff that tcp/ip really deals with, not words. This is DNS information and is used so that you will not need to ask for the site location each and every time you visit the site. Although WinXP and win2000 has a pretty efficient DNS cache, you can increase its overall performance by increasing its size.

You can do this with the registry entries below:

XP MEMORY TWEAKS

Below are some Windows XP memory tweaks. They are located in the windows registry at:

DisablePagingExecutive – When enabled, this setting will cause the OS and most programs to be more responsive. However, it is advised that people should only perform this tweak if they have a significant amount of RAM on their system (more than 128 MB), because this setting does use a substantial portion of your system resources. By default, the value of this key is 0. To enable it, set it to 1.

LargeSystemCache – When enabled, this setting allows the computer to cache the OS Kernel to memory, making the OS more responsive. As with the previous key, set the value from 0 to 1 to enable.

IOPageLockLimit – This tweak boosts the Input/Output performance of your computer when it is doing a large amount of file transfers and other similar operations. This tweak won’t do much of anything for a system without a significant amount of RAM (if you don’t have more than 128 MB, don’t even bother), but systems with more than 128 MB of RAM will generally find a performance boost by setting this to between 8 and 16 MB. The default is 0.5 MB, or 512 KB. This setting requires a value in bytes, so multiply the desired number of megabytes * 1024 * 1024. That’s X * 1048576 (where X is the number, in megabytes). Test out several settings and keep the one which seems to work best for your system.

1. First, open the Windows Registry using Regedit, and (after backing up) navigate to:

2. Note the following lines (all hex dwords):

Class = 008 ( biggrin.gif – indicates that TCP/IP is a name service provider, don’t change

3. What we’re aiming to do is increase the priority of the last 4 settings, while keeping their order. The valid range is from -32768 to +32767 and lower numbers mean higher priority compared to other services. What we’re aiming at is lower numbers without going to extremes, something like what’s shown below should work well.

4. Change the “Priority” lines to:

5. Reboot for changes to take effect

MOZILLA FIREFOX, SPEED IT UP!

Speed up Mozilla FireFox

In the URL bar, type “about:config” and press enter. This will bring up the configuration “menu” where you can change the parameters of Firefox.

SPEED UP YOUR BANDWIDTH BY 20%

Windows uses 20% of your bandwidth Here’s how to Get it back

A nice little tweak for XP. Microsoft reserve 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc..)

Here’s how to get it back:

Click Start–>Run–>type “gpedit.msc” without the “

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy–>Computer Configuration–>Administrative Templates–>Network–>QOS Packet Scheduler–>Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the ‘Explain’ tab :

“By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default.”

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO.

This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.

WINXP APPLICATIONS STARTUP TIME TWEAKS

By default, Microsoft includes the /prefetch:1 switch to speed up it’s Windows Media Player application start time. This switch can be used for other Windows applications and also many third party programs.

Example

You have AVG installed on the computer. Complete the steps outlined below to add the /prefetch:1 switch to AOL’s Target path.

1. Right click on the AVG shortcut and select properties from the menu.

2. In the Target: Field add the /prefetch:1 switch to the very end of the path, like this: “C:Program FilesGrisoftAVG7avgcc.exe” /prefetch:1 and then click ok.

Now start AVG. It would load at least 50 times faster than ever before.

**Note**

This switch will only work with some programs. Others will return a message saying the program in the target box is invalid.

FIX XP CORRUPTED FILES

+ Place the xp cd in your cd/dvd drive

+ Go to start

+ run

+ type in ‘sfc /scannow’ (without the ‘)

Now it should all load, and fix all your corrupted file on windows XP.

SPEED UP WEB BROWSING

Go to START > RUN > type in cmd

Command prompt will appear, type in ipconfig / flushdns .

These sentences will appear next.

Windows IP Configuration

For this I not so sure, maybe it works only on IE and not Firefox.

DISABLE THE SEND ERROR REPORT TO MICROSOFT

To disable the stupid feature in WinXP which tries to send a report to microsoft every time a program crashes you will have to do this:

Open Control Panel

Click on Preformance and Maintenance.

Click on System.

Then click on the Advanced tab

Click on the error reporting button on the bottom of the windows.

Select Disable error reporting.

Click OK

Click OK

IMPROVE YOUR DIALUP MODEM PERFORMANCE

Here’s how to do it:

Click Start the button.

Select Settings.

Click Control Panel.

Double-click on the Modems icon.

Select your modem.

Click the Properties button.

Click the Connections tab.

Click the Advanced button.

In the “Extra settings” field, type S36=7

Click OK to save your settings.

This will force your modem to try to stay connected at high speeds in two different ways.

Follow the following steps :

1. Open notepad.exe, type “del c:windowsprefetchntosboot-*.* /q” (without the quotes) & save as “ntosboot.bat” in c:

2. From the Start menu, select “Run…” & type “gpedit.msc”.

3. Double click “Windows Settings” under “Computer Configuration” and double click again on “Shutdown” in the right window.

4. In the new window, click “add”, “Browse”, locate your “ntosboot.bat” file & click “Open”.

5. Click “OK”, “Apply” & “OK” once again to exit.

6. From the Start menu, select “Run…” & type “devmgmt.msc”.

7. Double click on “IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers”

8. Right click on “Primary IDE Channel” and select “Properties”.

9. Select the “Advanced Settings” tab then on the device or 1 that doesn’t have ‘device type’ greyed out select ‘none’ instead of ‘autodetect’ & click “OK”.

10. Right click on “Secondary IDE channel”, select “Properties” and repeat step 9.

OPTIMIZE DSL-CABLE CONNECTION SPEED

First, u need to goto Start, then run. Type in regedit in the box. Next, goto the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetVxDMSTCP

Now, find the string DefaultRcvWindow . Now, edit the number to 64240 then restart your computer. There you go. High speed cable modem now with out dloading a program. Original value is 373360.

**NOTE**

In my PC, I cannot find the VxD/MSTCP thingy, so I not sure whether it will work or not.

MAXIMIZE DIAL-UP MODEM SETTINGS

With Win XP , just hold down the Alt key and double-click “My Computer” to bring up System Properties. Click the “Hardware” tab, then choose the “Device Manager” button. Scroll down to “Modems” and click the little (—) to show your modem, then double click it.

Selecting the “Modem” tab will allow you to adjust the port speed.

Usually, the Maximum Port Speed is on the highest setting (115,000 bps), but sometimes you will find it on a slower default of 9600 bps. If you have a 56k modem, you can crank it up to the maximum setting without any trouble (in most cases). If you live in a cave and have a 28k modem, then the fastest you can do is 57,600 bps.

To check/adjust the Receive-Transmit buffers in XP, click the “Advanced” tab of your modem properties then choose the “Advanced Port Settings” button. Make sure that both are set to their highest settings.

I also never tried it before as :

1. I don’t use dial-up.

2. I can’t find the “Modems” thingy.

So, if it is working, good for you, if it’s not, bad for you.

Memadukan PCMAV RC24 dengan database virus ClamAV

Agar PCMAV RC24 yang Anda download dapat mengenali lebih banyak virus atau malware lainnya, Anda dapat memadukannya dengan ClamAV. Panduan untuk melakukannya dapat Anda lihat pada file readme.txt yang disertakan. Untuk mengintegrasikan PCMAV dengan ClamAV menggunakan libaray ClamAV versi 0.9x, Anda dapat membacanya pada  halaman ini.

Deteksi Antivirus Lain Untuk PCMAV RC24

File yang saya upload berasal dari DVD PC Media Edisi 02/2008 yang saya beli. Dalam proses pemaketan ke file zip saya langsung melakukannya dari folder PCMAV di DVD. Tetapi, seperti pada rilis sebelumnya, beberapa antivirus masih mendeteksi PCMAV sebagai virus atau malware lainnya, dan untuk PCMAV RC24 dua antivirus memberikan alarm untuk file PCMAV-CLN.exe dan empat antivirus memberikan alarm untuk file PCMAV-RTP.exe. Kedua file diupload langsung dari DVD  Majalah PC Media dan di-scan dengan menggunakan layanan VirusTotal.com. Bisa jadi itu merupakan false alarm (salah pendeteksian) dari antivirus lain, tapi saya bukan dalam kapasitas memberikan konfirmasi untuk ini.  Berikut hasil yang diberikan untuk kedua file tersebut.

Debian Repository

Kami telah mengemas aplikasi dalam paket Debian. Untuk memudahkan pencarian paket terkait, dibuatlah Debian Repository yang perlu Anda tambahkan dalam /etc/apt/sources.list:

PostgreSQL merupakan database yang digunakan pada aplikasi yang kami buat. Sebaiknya Anda install terlebih dahulu produk ini:

Lalu edit /etc/postgresql/8.1/main/pg_hba.conf:

local all all 127.0.0.1/32 password

local all all 192.168.0.254/32 password

192.168.0.254 adalah IP dimana PostgreSQL terpasang.

Edit juga /etc/postgresql/8.1/main/postgresql.conf:

Untuk mengizinkan PostgreSQL diakses dari komputer lain.

Setelah itu restart:

Kasir

Kasir atau Point of Sales merupakan program untuk minimarket, swalayan, restoran, dan sejenisnya. Program ini berada di lingkungan console untuk meminimalkan spesifikasi komputer yang dibutuhkan.

Installer secara otomatis akan membuat user kasir password 1234, dan database kasir. Untuk menjalankannya bisa melalui menu K, Office, Kasir atau melalui konsole:

Ingin membagi akses Internet ? Jalankan perintah ini:

Fitur ini otomatis juga aktif saat server di-restart.
Dialup

Anda punya beberapa modem dialup yang terpasang di server, dan terbukti berhasil dijalankan dengan wvdial. Paket dialup berikut ini bertujuan untuk menjalankan wvdial secara otomatis dan dapat menggunakan modem berikutnya sesuai yang terdaftar di /etc/wvdial.conf.

Ucapkanlah

Ingin komputer Anda berbicara dalam logat Inggris ? Gunakan program ini yang dapat dijalankan di konsole.

Contoh penggunaan:

Program ini digunakan juga oleh paket dialup di atas yang akan menyebutkan ISP mana yang tengah digunakan.

Anda ingin mendengar laporan dari server apakah koneksi dialup telah tersambung atau terputus. Hal yang memudahkan proses pengawasan.

Dan mulai saat ini, apt-get dialihkan ke server mirror ITS, yang kedua, kita akan coba menggunakan repository dari UI, dengan alamat di kambing.vlsm.org, caranya sama saja seperti mengganti repository ke mirror.its.ac.id, anda hanya perlu merubah mirror.its.ac.id menjadi kambing.vlsm.org dan untuk repository di UGM silakan ganti dengan alamat http://repo.ugm.ac.id !!
